From one of the makers of Arachon T.FX.T, Weinhof Szemes produces one of the top Blaufränkisch in Austria.

In 1984 Tibor took over the family business. Tibor Szemes, a charismatic personality with vision and contacts all over the world, recognized the excellent terroir and grape quality of Central Burgenland as early as the early 1980s. With Ing. Josef Pusch, the then cellar master of the Horitschon cooperative, Tibor Szemes initiated the step to become a négociant.

Tibor’s son, Oscar took the place of his parents, who both died far too young. Together with his sister Anna, he is now continuing the traditional business, while evolving it to focus on estate vineyards, as well as modernizing the wine portfolio that they represent

Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Chardonnay from Neckenmarkt in Burgenland, Austria. The fruit is grown on slate & gneiss soils

Taste Profile:  Strong golden yellow color, intense nose, creamy, brioche, citrus notes, pineapple, firm finish, lively drinking flow, salty-mineral long-lasting finish with elegant style.

Winemaking Process: After spontaneous fermentation in a partly new 500L wooden barrel for 12 months on the full yeast. After fermentation, it ages on the lees for several months before being bottled while still fruity and fresh
