Meyer-Nakel & Klumpp Hand in Hand Pinot Rose Sekt 2022

The name of the wine estate goes back to the marriage of grandparents Paula Meyer and Willibald Näkel in 1950. They cultivated an area of just 1.5 hectares, yet were able to make a name for themselves because Willibald’s production of dry red wines represented thoroughly pioneering work at the time where German wine was simply always sweet. 

Werner Nakel took over the estate in the 1980s, and is considered one of the most important vintners in Germany. Today, the winery is run by 3rd generation Meike and Dörte (with their parents Werner and Claudia Näkel), who have embraced their family’s passion and skill for winemaking, with a fresh take on the River Ahr, Slate and Pinot Noir. 

Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Pinor Noir from old vines in Baden, Germany. The vines grow on the loess/clay soils so typical of the region, whose high lime content makes them ideal for producing rich, fragrant wines

Taste Profile: Ripe sweet cherries and subtle strawberry aromas emerge on the nose. On the palate, lively acidity makes this powerful and harmonious Burgundy a pleasure to drink. The Pinot Noir Rosé sparkling wine is wonderfully fresh and elegant. 

Winemaking Process: After selective hand-harvesting of the grapes, approximately 10% of the base wine was fermented in barriques, the remainder in steel tanks. Long 15-month lees aging gives this rosé sparkling wine a wonderfully creamy texture
