Maurice Gavignet Monthelie Les Sous-Roches Blanc 2022

Maurice Gavignet is a family-owned winery in Burgundy, France, with a history spanning four generations. Founded by Honoré Gavignet in Nuits Saint Georges, he was born in 1879 and worked at the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti until 1920 before settling in Nuits-St-Georges.

Today, the domaine continues to be known for its Pinot Noir wines, particularly those from the Côte de Nuits region. Over the last decade, the Domaine has grown with vineyards on the Côte de Beaune at Monthelie, Santenay, Savigny les Beaune and Pommard. This is how the Domaine becomes one of the pearls of the Côte d'Orien vineyard.

Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Chardonnay from the Les Sous Roches vineyard in Monthelie, Burgundy. Average vine age of 40-45 years

Taste Profile: A beautiful light gold colour. Floral with a touch of lemon. The liveliness is perfectly counterbalanced by the complexity on the palate. The mid-palate is very pleasant with peach and nectarine flavours. The finish has good length.

Winemaking Process: The grapes are hand-picked, pressed and placed in vats. After a pre-fermentary cold maceration, the alcoholic fermentation
begins. After a pre-fermentation at low temperature, the musts are put
into French oak barrels. The wine is then raised in oak barrels for 12 months(1–2-year-old barrels). The wine is bottled after fining
