Maurice Gavignet is a family-owned winery in Burgundy, France, with a history spanning four generations. Founded by Honoré Gavignet in Nuits Saint Georges, he was born in 1879 and worked at the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti until 1920 before settling in Nuits-St-Georges.
Today, the domaine continues to be known for its Pinot Noir wines, particularly those from the Côte de Nuits region. Over the last decade, the Domaine has grown with vineyards on the Côte de Beaune at Monthelie, Santenay, Savigny les Beaune and Pommard. This is how the Domaine becomes one of the pearls of the Côte d'Orien vineyard.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Chardonnay from Burgundy, France. The fruit is grown on clay & limestone soils, with an average vine age of 25-35 years
Taste Profile: Aromas white flowers & citrus, supported by a note of oak. The palate is harmonious, aromatic & with a long finish
Winemaking Process: The fruit was hand picked and undergoes a direct press, after which it was transferred to steel vats for fermentation, it matures for 10 months on 10% new oak barrels. The wine was racked twice before bottling
