Ghost Rock Supernatural Illusions 2024

Ghost Rock is a cornerstone of Tasmania’s Cradle Coast, founded by the Arnold family and instrumental in shaping the region’s reputation over the past two decades. Today, the estate is led by second-generation winemaker Justin Arnold alongside his wife, Alicia Peardon.

The vineyards sit on varied expressions of volcanic clay, from loam to sand, carefully farmed to manage vigour and preserve balance. The result is a quietly confident range of wines that reflect both site and season: precise, cool-climate expressions shaped by experience rather than ego.

Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Pinot Noir from Cradle Coast, Tasmania. This Pinot Noir was sourced from their Bonadale and Clairdown blocks, two of their most mature blocks now producing some of their most elegant fruit. A variety of clones were chosen in order to create a complex yet balanced wine.

Taste Profile: Hazy pale straw in color, it as bright aromas of honey cake, vanilla slice, fresh cream, peaches & lemon rind

Winemaking Process: Grapes were picked at table ripeness and sent directly to press under oxidative conditions. This encourages colour pigments to destabilize while not harming aromatic precursors which are still bound to unfermented sugars at this stage. The juice was then treated similarly to how they handle chardonnay, with a high solids barrel fermentation, weekly lees stirring, secondary malolactic fermentation encouraged, and a 15% new oak program. Wild fermented in barrique and puncheon.
