Ghost Rock Supernatural Cellar Rat 2025
Ghost Rock is a cornerstone of Tasmania’s Cradle Coast, founded by the Arnold family and instrumental in shaping the region’s reputation over the past two decades. Today, the estate is led by second-generation winemaker Justin Arnold alongside his wife, Alicia Peardon.
The vineyards sit on varied expressions of volcanic clay, from loam to sand, carefully farmed to manage vigour and preserve balance. The result is a quietly confident range of wines that reflect both site and season: precise, cool-climate expressions shaped by experience rather than ego.
The Supernatural labels are their natural series - Nothing added, nothing taken away, these are 'natural' drops made in small volumes
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Pinot Gris from Cradle Coast, Tasmania. The grapes for this wine were grown on their Iris block, and is the only patch that has a unique East-West row orientation. Its windy
and exposed, creating thick skinned berries with plenty of punch and flavour.
Each year they let their vintage cellarhand, affectionately known as the Cellar Rat, take control over creating this wine in the Supernatural range. The brief is simple - skinsy orange wine
Taste Profile: Hazy pale orange rose in color. On the nose, big notes of orange pith, wax, rose hip, yellow necatarine, and a mineral edge with a hint of funk that blows off through the evolution in the glass.
Off the charts for generosity of texture, smooth and creamy lees work with phenolics in check. A delicately structure finish and pleasing aftertaste.
Winemaking Process: Created by pouring fermenting PInot Gris juice onto freshly de-stemmed tubs of Pinot Gris, and stirred them up twice a day. Oce dry, he pressed & aged them in neutral oak barrels.
