Domaine Philippe Gilbert Hors Serie 2022
This family-owned estate was established in 1768 in Menetou-Salon, a region located adjacent to Sancerre in central France. The vineyards are planted with Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc grapes, which thrive in the clayey-limestone soils of the Kimmeridgian geological formation under a semi-oceanic climate. The distinctive minerality of the wines is further enhanced by the estate’s adoption of organic and biodynamic farming practices in 2006 across its 30 hectares of vineyards
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Pinot Noir from Menetou-Salon in the Loire Valley, France
Taste Profile: Earthy and fruity with red currants and cranberries aromas. The wine possesses a huge freshness and energetic elegance. Lots of lifted tart red fruit, and a hint Pinot spice in the scent. Excellent Pinot Noir buy!
Winemaking Process: Fermentation (50% whole bunches) and aging takes place in 90 hectoliter wooden casks, without the addition of any forms of sulphur. Only a quite microscopic amount of less than 20 mg/liters are added just before bottling. The wine is bottled without clarification or filtration.
