Battles Wine Granitis Shiraz 2023

Grape Varietals & Region: Shiraz with 5% Viognier in the blend from Perth Hills in Western Australia. 

Granítis (grani’ths) is the Greek word for Granite and this unique bedrock is present throughout the vineyard. The resulting wine is a true reflection of the soil in which it’s grown.

Taste Profile: The wine carries ripe fruit characters of dried herbs, spice, charcuterie and blood plum, with a ripe tannin profile. A five percent Viognier whole bunch component provides a perfume lift and savoury note to the palate

Winemaking Process: The fruit was picked by hand to minimise fruit damage and maximise quality. The fruit was then crushed, destemmed with around 15% remaining as whole bunches, and an additional 5% Viognier added as whole bunches to add vibrancy. Fermentation proceeded on skins for 10 days before basket pressing. Barrel maturation in seasoned 500 litre puncheons took place for 10 months. The wine was then lightly fined and coarsely filtered to provide natural character and texture.
